Anthony Morales is a 27-year-old Nuyorican poet/teacher from the Bronx who has appeared on HBOs Def Poetry Jam and in the New York Times. He has published two chapbooks, "UNIverses" and "It Is What It Is". He received a Master's degree from Columbia University's Teachers College in 2004. Currently, Mr. Morales is an English teacher at El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice in Brooklyn, New York. He seeks to publish "Story Ave" in 2008.

Artist and activist Yasmin Hernandez recently went on a research trip to Vieques.  She reports back with a slide presentation in what is always an entertaining and exciting Puerto Rican history lesson...

As part of the first anniversary celebration we are featuring a photo exhibition by our very own Elena "Mamarazzi" Marrero with more than 50 photographs of  the many performers that graced our cultural venue...

Among the performers scheduled to perform are Bobby Gonzalez, Maria Aponte, poet/author Sheila Candelario and bassist Joe Falcon.

This anniversary celebration is part of the Noche de Galeria en El Barrio events produced to showcase the many cultural and culinary happenings that are defining the nightlife in this traditionally Puerto Rican/Latino neighborhood. Prendelo! is the name given by Mr. Anthony Morales to the Open Mic Poetry series that will give an opportunity to up coming poets and performers to share their talent with the community.  Mr Morales will be hosting this monthly series at Cemi Underground and the next  open mic is scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2008
